Crash kills 6-year-old, injures five others

A 6-year-old girl died and five other people were injured in a two-vehicle crash near Dexter.

According to a preliminary report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred around 11 a.m. on Feb. 11 in rural Stoddard County on Missouri Highway 25 about half a mile south of Dexter.

MSHP Trooper D.A. Huffman reports that 24-year-old Crystal D. Phillips was attempting to make a left turn when she pulled her car into the path of a vehicle driven by 38-year-old Lyle D. Davis.

Lyle Davis and 12-year-old Sierra L. Davis suffered moderate injuries and were taken to Missouri Southern Healthcare in Dexter for treatment. Kylie M. Davis, 6, was taken by air ambulance to Missouri Southern where she was pronounced dead at 12:05 p.m.

Michael D. Phillips, 5, and Breanna M. Phillips, 3, suffered minor injuries in the crash. Michael S Phillips, 26, suffered moderate injuries. All three were treated at Missouri Southern.

The Highway Patrol reports that tickets will be issued to Crystal Phillips, but what she would be cited for was not immediately available.
