A head-on collision north of St. Louis killed three people and injured two others Saturday.

According to a report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred just before 2 a.m. on U.S. Highway 61 in Lincoln County.

The MSHP report states 37-year-old Brian A. Lindsey, of Whiteside, Mo., was driving south in the highway’s northbound lanes when his 1991 Pontiac Bonneville collided with a 1996 Chrysler Concorde driven by 21-year-old James H. Irving Jr., of Elsberry, Mo.

The crash killed Lindsey as well as 59-year-old James H. Irving, Sr., and 32-year-old Marcos J. Augustine, both of Elsberry. All three were pronounced dead at the scene by Lincoln County Coroner Robert Shramek.

James Irving Jr. and 45-year-old Ruby M. Irving both suffered serious injuries in the crash. James Irving was taken to Lincoln County Memorial Hospital for treatment while Ruby Irving was taken by air ambulance to St. Johns Mercy Hospital in Creve Couer.

According to the Highway Patrol none of the people involved in the crash were wearing a seat belt.
