A Springfield man died Thursday after being run over by his own motor home.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Richard R. Garrison Jr., 50, had stopped his 1980 Titan motor home in the turning lane of Battlefield Drive at the intersection with Missouri Highway 13 in Springfield around 11 a.m..

Garrison apparently climbed under the front of the vehicle to make a repair when it rolled forward. An unidentified witness climbed aboard the motor home as it traveled across Highway 13, bringing it to a controlled stop on the east side of the intersection.

Garrison suffered severe head trauma and was declared dead at the scene by Greene County Medical Examiner Paul R. Spence M.D.
